An essay on the integration of IT into classrooms and the resulting implications for teachers won a Computer Weekly-backed competition to support Nottingham Trent University's efforts to improve IT students' awareness of the social issues of computing.

First year computing student Jayne Eaton from Nottingham Trent wins a Fujitsu F401 digital camera plus Adobe's Photoshop Elements 2.0 image editing software.

Fujitsu and Adobe were co-sponsors of the competition to encourage a social computing course module.

"Communicating ideas and being able to develop an argument are vital skills for all IT graduates," says Ian Allison, a principal lecturer at the department.
