Mobile commerce bombs

Less than 1% of mobile phone subscribers have used their phones to make a purchase in the past year, according to a report by US consultants AT Kearney.

The report added that only 3% of US phone users plan to buy goods or services using their mobiles next year, well down on the previous year's figure of 34%. AT Kearney cited slow data rates, small screens and awkward keyboards as factors in the low uptake of mobile commerce.
