The UK public is sick of internet hype because the Net has already become an everyday part of life, according to a survey by msn.co.uk.

The survey found that 60% of people believe the phrase "dotcom" is overused and 66% are tired of hearing about twentysomething internet millionaires.

More than 75% of people said the Net is now just another part of life and 90% think it will be used even more in the future. Of those who have home access to the internet, 66% said it plays a bigger part in their life than the video or mobile phone.

Gillian Kent, group marketing manager for msn.co.uk, said: "The internet industry needs to understand this and grow up with its audience. We should no longer be talking about the Net for its own sake, but about what it can do to improve people's everyday lives."
