The competition is for teams of up to five people, including a team manager, who must solve problems against the clock.
Teams can choose from C, C++, Java, Visual Basic and Eclipse. The BCS also hopes to offer C#.
Past participants praise the competition as a training event, a chance for students to compete with professionals, and great fun.
The closing date for entries is 31 January. There are regional heats on 6 March and the final takes place on 3 April.
All participants receive an exclusive T-shirt, and there are prizes for heat winners. The champions carry off further prizes, shields and the trophy.
