The agreement will make WQuinn's network attached storage (NAS) software tools available to manufacturers such as Dell and Compaq to help them create manageable NAS servers that run on Windows 2000.
The software can help companies monitor and control storage growth by identifying and deleting unnecessary files and making better use of existing storage space.
WQuinn said this enables companies to more easily manage storage resources on Windows 2000-based server appliances, including Web Server Appliances, and networked back-up and recovery appliances as well as NAS server appliances.
Gartner analyst Carolyn DiCenzo said the partnership is "a logical convergence" particularly as enterprises shift from general purpose server infrastructures to more task-specific appliances.
