The Duke of Westminster and the Earl of Erroll are both patrons of the IT community's main charity event of the year: the Intellect ICT Industry Charity Ball, which will take place on 8 July in Lincoln's Inn Fields, London.

This year's ball aims to raise more than £30,000 to benefit the Treehouse Trust, a London-based charity operating an educational centre for children with autism and communication disorders.

The ball, supported by Computer Weekly, is organised by suppliers' organisation Intellect and the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists. It has several heavyweight sponsors, including IBM, Intel and Microsoft, and is taking bookings now.
