BCS gives free membership to ECDL experts

Those who pass the European computer driving licence advanced qualification are being granted free membership of the British Computer Society.

The ECDL expert certificate is awarded to people who complete all four ECDL advanced modules in IT user skills. It now comes with a free six-month associate membership of the BCS.

BCS membership gives candidates the opportunity to receive free career advice and broaden their IT skills through training with the society, which offers a range of qualifications.

BCS chief executive David Clarke said, "Society membership is not offered to anybody - only those who can demonstrate commitment to professional standards supported by accredited qualifications.

"In view of the fact that BCS membership is broadly viewed by the UK IT sector as a proof of merit, this is a valuable offer."
