Annual IT charity ball to be held on 27 June

At the opposite end of the spectrum to Byte Night is the grandest IT charity event of the year, Intellect's IT Charity Ball, which takes place on 27 June.

The event will be held at the headquarters of the Honourable Artillery Company, the oldest regiment in the UK, in the City of London. The theme of this year's industry ball is "A Night in Atlantis".

The annual event, supported by Computer Weekly and the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists, brings together several hundred IT professionals for a dinner, dance and a series of fund-raising auctions. Last year the ball raised £70,000 for charity.

The beneficiary this year is the YouthNet charity, which provides support to needy children. Proceeds from the ball will help to fund the expansion of YouthNet's askTheSite online service, which provides confidential advice to youngsters.

The ball is sponsored by Cable & Wireless, Cerillion, DCS Automotive, Deloitte, EDS, Intel, Symantec and Xerox Global Services.
