McAfee Avert Labs has uncovered a rise in the level of Valentine Spam attempting to trick internet users by posing as Valentine's games and e-mail greetings.
McAfee has found that the current wave of Valentine's Day spam includes URLs that carry the Waledac Trojan - where the techniques and features are very similar to those of the well-known Nuwar/Storm Trojan.
Clicking on the malicious links may lead to users downloading a Trojan onto their machine that may add it to a spam-relaying bot network. The Trojan may also be used to steal the user's personal data.
Internet users need to be wary of e-mails with the subject titles "Deeply in love with you", "I Knew I Loved You" and "I Love Being In Love With You" followed by a short URL in the body of the e-mail.
