British scientists are developing chip technology that could
enable computers to be controlled by the mind.
Using sensors and wireless technology, light switches,
televisions and computers could be controlled by thought,
according to a Daily Mail report.
Dr Jon Spratley, who developed a prototype chip, said the idea is
to help people who are unable to communicate or who are
immobile.
"We are just trying to help people with severe communication
problems or motor neurone disease -like Dr Stephen Hawking or
Christopher Reeve," he said.
Spratley developed a prototype during his PhD at Birmingham
University. He said what makes his project different to some
already being carriedin the US is the use of wireless technology,
which he said removes the risk of infection.
