Sony has unveiled two Reader models, to add to its family of
electronic book devices, one pocket-sized, the other offering a
touch screen.
The Reader Pocket Edition uses a five-inch electronic paper
display and is available in rose pink and silver finishes. The
device can store approximately 350 standard eBooks and provides up
to two weeks of reading on a single battery charge, Sony said.
The Reader Touch Edition features a menu-driven, six-inch
touchscreen panel that enables users to page turning, highlight
text and take notes with the swipe of a finger or by using the
included stylus. Users can type with the virtual keyboard and make
handwritten notes with the stylus, which can be exported and
printed out, Sony said.
Sony's eBook Library software 3.0 is included in both versions,
which now includes support for Apple Macintosh as well as PCs,
allowing users to read any Adobe PDF, Microsoft Word, BBeB files,
or other text file formats on the Reader. Users can access free
electronic books from the Sony Reader
website.
