Microsoft will issue patches for nine vulnerabilities,
including five rated "critical", in Windows and several other
software products on Patch Tuesday next week.
Five of the vulnerabilities can be exploited by hackers to
remotely run code on a PC.
The software affected includes Windows 2000, XP and Vista,
Windows Server 2003 and 2008, Windows Client for Mac, and Office
2000, XP and 2003.
Visual Studio .net 2003, Internet Security and Acceleration
(ISA) Server 2004 and 2006, and BizTalk Server 2002 are also
affected, according to a Microsoft
security advisory.
Four vulnerabilities rated "important" which affect Windows and
the .net Framework could allow an attacker to elevate privileges to
carry out attacks.
One vulnerability in Windows and the .net framework could allow
attackers to carry out a denial-of-service attack.
Seven of the patches will require system restarts, one may
require a restart, but the denial-of-service patch will not require
a restart.
