Huddle.net, a developer of
collaboration software, has created an application for the
LinkedIn social networking
site. The
Huddle
Workspaces product offers private online workspaces for secure
team
collaboration, document sharing and discussions within the
LinkedIn network. The company said users receive 1Gb of free
storage and can collaborate with unlimited connections.
Andy
McLoughlin, co-founder and product director of Huddle.net, said
the product could be used to brainstorm ideas and quickly exchange
useful pieces of information while banishing confusing "reply-all"
e-mail threads.
It includes document management tools that allow users to share
files and create and edit documents online in .doc and .xls format.
Huddel said users can post comments on files, request approvals and
send notifications. Documents can be locked and checked out of the
system for offline editing.
Huddle is one of a number of applications launched as part of
the LinkedIn Intelligent Applications (InApps) platform, which has
been designed to help companies develop
professional applications for LinkedIn's 30 million members.
The platform also includes applications from Amazon, Box.net,
Google, Six Apart, SlideShare, Tripit and WordPress.
