Websense has developed a real-time security protection system to
meet the challenges posed by Web 2.0 threats.
The Websense Web Security
Gateway aims to tackle the growing challenges brought about by
the explosion of
Web 2.0 technologies including user-generated content,
mashups, interactive networking sites and web applications.
Providing inline inspection of web traffic, SSL traffic, Web 2.0
applications, and more than 100 network protocols, the website
monitoring company said the product classifies new and dynamic
content in real-time, determining immediately whether the website
and its content are safe.
Lawrence Orans, research director for Gartner, said, "Attackers
are targeting 'trusted' websites with good reputations to
circumvent traditional security measures and maximise attack
effectiveness. To enable legitimate business use of these sites
while still protecting against inbound and outbound malware,
organisations are increasingly demanding Secure Web Gateway
products that go beyond traditional URL filtering to provide
real-time inspection of malicious web content and granular web
application control."
Websense Web Security Gateway is due to be release later this
month.
