The UK's largest
independent bakery,
Warburtons, has implemented a mobile SAP purchase order
approval application to improve productivity and speed up decision
making.
"A bottleneck in approving purchase orders was causing the
business to lose good deals on flour and wheat, but since making
our SAP order approval system mobile, we had not missed a single
deal," said Damien Ghee, IT and programme director at
Warburtons.
Ghee said the company was looking for a quick and easy way of
speeding up its decision making process using its existing
Blackberry mobile deployment and SAP systems.
"Mobile system company iQlink offered a ready way of enabling
ten senior managers and directors to link to our SAP systems from
their Blackberrys using Skymobile software within a month," said
Ghee.
He said iQlink was able to meet Warburtons' immediate
requirements as well as introduce a workflow management system to
the company at the same time using the Skymobile software.
"Now the Blackberry is the preferred user interface because it
is so much simpler and quicker than using the SAP system itself,"
said Ghee. "Because the Blackberrys are password protected there is
no need to go through any lengthy authentication process and orders
can be approved, put on hold or rejected with a few clicks."
Ghee said the Skymobile software had provided the additional
business benefit of providing a software platform for further
mobile projects. "This was not a point solution, but will enable us
to implement things like vehicle routing and scheduling, proof of
delivery, and other applications using the Blackberrys," he
said.
