Businesses leave far too much to chance and need to be
more proactive in managing operational and IT risk,IBMhas announced, as it launched its
"Enterprise to the Edge" scheme to manage risk.
The situation will get worse as business models change, it
claimed. The combination of collaborative business models,
increasingly complex infrastructures and sophisticated criminal
attacks all conspire to enhance risk in the modern corporate
environment, said Tom Noonan, general manager for IBM Internet
Security Systems "For many enterprises, security is broken."
IBM calls for new approaches to cut complexity, adapt to new
business imperatives and enable business value versus just threat
protection. In North America alone, companies are expected to spend
almost £15bn on governance, risk and compliance this year estimates
AMR Research.
The first wave of IBM security services and products tackle
information security concerns from the enterprise to the edge of
companies' networks. IBM's Internet Security Systems (ISS) unit is
teaming with IBM Research and integrating with IBM's Software and
Systems businesses to offer
risk management capabilities.
