University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust
are saving two hours ofdowntimea week, and trebling their
disc space, with avirtualised network.
The hospital says their technology agreement with Dell means
their IT systems will be on 24/7, and will be backed-up and
centralised.
The trust added a more stable infrastructure means more
efficient care for patients.
It purchased blade servers and a virtual infrastructure after
the closure of two hospitals and opening of the new University
Hospital last year meant a centralised network was required. The
old infrastructure had minimal storage and aging equipment meant it
was not running efficiently, the Trust said.
Mark Austin, head of technology & innovation, University
Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust, said, "Our
challenges have been to keep up with our modernisation agenda and
facilitate enough disk storage to effectively and efficiently save
patient records. To meet these requirements we needed to implement
a new, holistic storage infrastructure.
"The stability of the new systems and the ease-of-management
means we now have more time to focus on our day-to-day work."
