Coach operatorNational Express, has signed a managed
network contract with Vistorm worth £45,000 a year to run its
Citrix server system.
The deal reverses a three-year-old decision to run the
Citrix-based
thin-client network in-house.
David Jones, head of IT at National Express, said Citrix
required specialist skills. "The Citrix network is a small part of
what we do in terms of IT, but we found it difficult to recruit
people for the rest of the business who also had Citrix skills. In
the end, we thought that, rather than become Citrix experts
ourselves, we would hire people who are."
Vistorm, which
installed the original network three years ago, will use Citrix
elements from Microsoft Operations Manager to manage the 16-server
system.
