Microsoft said it will launch Windows Server 2008, Visual Studio 2008 and SQL Server 2008 together on 27 February next year.

Plans for the launch were revealed by Microsoft at this week's Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference in Denver.

With most companies already contemplating the adoption of the Windows Vista OS and the integration of a new Office suite, next year's combined major launches will pile the pressure on many IT departments.

For the channel though, Microsoft said the forthcoming launches would throw up a pile of new opportunities to drum up business.

To prepare the channel and developers for the products, Microsoft is busy developing product beta programmes, accreditation courses and other training.
