overhauled its network to provide improved services for players,
the media and spectators.
The new Cisco IP network, installed and managed by
integrator Logicalis, contains over 50 systems.
These include a ticket monitoring service enabling seats to be
resold when spectators leave, and an IPTV stream to be screened at
points throughout the ground to ensure everyone sees as much court
action as possible.
In addition internet access for 1,000 users and the Wimbledon
Information and TV commentators systems also depend on the
network.
Jeff Lucas, IT Director at the All England Lawn Tennis Club,
said, “For two weeks of the year response times are measured in
seconds not minutes. With so many critical systems running over the
network, availability is critical.”
