Microsoft has introduced thealpha release of Popfly, which provides an easy way to build and share mash-ups,
gadgets, applications, web pages and other interactive
content.
Popfly uses pre-built “Blocks” that connect to online services
to help developers and content providers share material with
others.
Popfly consists of two parts. Popfly Creator is a set of online
visual tools for building web pages
and mashups; and Popfly Space is an online community of
creators, where users can host, share, rate, comment on and even
remix creations from other Popfly users.
Microsoft said the technology behind Popfly “blurs the lines
between consumers and developers, reaching beyond the
non-professional developer to the ‘tweakers’ and ‘viewers’”.
Popfly furthers Microsoft’s efforts to “democratise development”
by providing tools that anyone can use to build software, said the
software manufacturer.
The private alpha Microsoft is releasing is designed to provide
customers with an early look at the product and allow them to share
their feedback with Popfly’s developers.
