The
Automobile Association has developed a driving
school website that includes functionality to book lessons and
schedule driving instructors.
The initiative is one of a series of projects to revamp the
motoring group's IT.
Trevor Didcock, director of IS at the AA, said the site enabled
pupils to book lessons over the web and allow instructors to manage
their schedules. The web application also
sends out SMS alerts to remind pupils and instructors about
lessons.
Developed by Indian offshore development house Mascom, the web
driving school application is based on Microsoft's .net
architecture and a SQL Server relational database.
The system, which replaces a legacy Dataflex application, will
enable greater automation of administrative tasks and improve
billing, Didcock said.
