The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is deploying a
workforce management system to aid its protection of nuclear
sites and materials.
A contract for the Open Options Duty Planning System was awarded
to Crown through
Computacenter and via the
Office for Government Commerce Framework.
With around 800 police officers and staff, the CNC works in
partnership with nuclear operators and Home Office forces.
Operational units are located at 15 sites throughout England,
Scotland and Wales and CNC headquarters, which is based at Culham
in Oxfordshire.
The Open Options Duty Planning System from Crown will replace an
ageing legacy workforce planning system, and will provide a single,
force-wide system that can be accessed from all 15 of CNC's
operating sites.
The new system, known as “Project Domino” within CNC, will
provide improvements in the scheduling of duty officers; better
management of overtime and leave; high visibility of labour costs
across the force; and improved absence management processes.
Sgt Mark Taylor, Domino project manager at CNC, said, "The Open
Options solution will represent a major step forward in our ability
to manage and deploy our officers in the most effective and
efficient manner. A comprehensive networked solution is vital to
our organisation.”
Deployment is expected to be completed early this autumn.
