Travelodge is preparing to
upgrade the hardware used by its core systems to ensure service
levels are maintained as the business goes through a period of
rapid growth.
IT director Alex Thomson, who joined the firm last month, has
begun a review of the hardware used by back-office and trading
systems.
Travelodge will begin its hardware upgrades in the summer. The
company's Opera property management system from software supplier
Micros Fidelio will be the first to get extra hardware, some time
in the third quarter.
Its website, which takes 80% of room bookings, will be the next
core system to get more hardware, followed by an upgrade to
Travelodge's payroll and HR application and SAP finance
application.
