Hosted customer relationship management
supplierSalesforce.com is to
introduce a product geared towards developers of composite
applications.
Appspace will be released as part of the company's spring
update. The product will enable mashup applications to be used, for
example, to allow service history and complaints escalation from
several spreadsheets to be combined when reviewing calls from a
customer.
Salesforce.com said Appspace would allow users to customise the
application and tailor the information presented to better match
the way they work.
This is a key feature, as cumbersome proprietary interfaces can
hinder end-user adoption of systems, said the company.
Salesforce.com hopes the software will encourage collaboration.
"Just as Myspace brought together individuals on the consumer web,
Appspace will bring together companies and their customers on the
business web," said Parker Harris executive vice-president,
technology, at Salesforce.com.
Denis Pombriant, managing principal at
Beagle Research Group, said, "Providing customers
with a way to further build trust and have authentic communication
with their customers is a foundational element of CRM's
future."
