Compuware has released a security tool to help companies investigate internal data breaches.

The supplier’s Application Auditing solution works with its Hiperstation platform to address mainframe data and application security issues with internal, authorised users.

The biggest security threat facing many organisations is internal, fuelling the need for internal security solutions. Compuware said that as well as having strategies to prevent unauthorised users from accessing data, companies needed a solution providing an insight into the actions of trusted users.

Application Auditing allows organisations to capture the application activity of authorised users. Compuware said that the information created an audit trail that could be used to investigate details of a security breach and to pinpoint those customers affected, ultimately minimising the problem.

Application Auditing can handle large amounts of mainframe data as it works with Hiperstation, which is directly connected to the mainframe operating system.
