Clubhas rolled out a sophisticated web
filtering system to actively manage internet access for different
user communities at the club, including its well-known youth
training academy.
Mark Wierzbicki, the club's IT manager, said the implementation
by Scalable Networks was crucial to giving the club the flexibility
it needed to allow different users to browse while maintaining the
integrity of its network.
"As with all organisations, the security threat is equally as
likely to emanate from our users as it is from an external source,
and this is a fundamental driver for our security strategy," he
said.
"Additionally, we are morally bound to oversee the education and
leisure time of our teenage students, and ensure that unsavoury
content does not find its way onto our network."
The club, which developed the talents of Arsenal player Theo
Walcott, uses its computing facilities across the site to help
players monitor their performance and training.
