Adobe may still sue over Vista antitrust issues

Adobe could still sue Microsoft over its forthcoming Windows Vista operating system if it feels the European Union has not done enough to prevent antitrust practices.

The two software firms are at loggerheads over Microsoft’s plans to include a fixed document format in the software that would compete with the PDF format developed by Adobe.

Microsoft has pledged to make changes to its document format.

But Reuters reports that Adobe chief executive Bruce Chizen told Germany's Euro am Sonntag newspaper the company was still looking at two options - suing Microsoft directly, or working with the authorities and provide them with the necessary information.

“We're doing the latter. Then we'll see,” Chizen said.

Microsoft has already been embroiled in lengthy legal action following a European Commission anti-trust ruling against it for bundling its own media player into earlier versions of Windows, shutting out other suppliers.
