P&O Ferries has updated its consumer web site to
allow non-technical staff to quickly update content on the
site.
Based on Percussion Software’s Rhythmyx web content management
system, the site,
www.poferries.com, is said
to be used by millions of ferry passengers each year. P&O
Ferries claims that the use of Rhythmyx 6 has reduced publishing
time to a matter of hours. This allows it to communicate up to the
minute travel updates and schedules.
Hayden Sutherland, head of e-business at P&O said the firm
needed to redevelop the site and provide four different language
versions.
“The new web content management system needed to ensure brand
and layout consistency across site. We were looking for a solution
that could be used by non-IT staff throughout the organisation, but
which would also have a strong workflow management capability.”
He added, “Our IT department is now free to focus on more
strategic issues while also having the confidence that content is
being updated and published in the right way. We are now publishing
information quicker, which has allowed us to extend the online
services we offer.”
