Friday 27 October 2006 12:00

The Parliamentary Office of Science and Technology has produced a non-experts’ guide on computer crime.

It provides a concise overview of different types of attack, the cost of computer crime, and technical solutions. The report also gives an overview of current awareness campaigns, and gives details of  the police and government units responsible for tackling computer crime.

A separate report explains the fundamentals of encryption and public key infrastructure technology. The report also gives a concise overview of the relevant legislation, including government powers to obtain encryption keys.
