Flooring retailer Carpetright has signed a deal with
Open Text to provide data archiving software for its SAP Business
Suite and Microsoft Dynamics systems.
As one of Europe’s leading carpet and floor covering retailers,
Carpetright is using Open Text to provide a common enterprise
content management (ECM) archiving platform for its lead business
systems.
The retailer will use software based on the Livelink ECM –
Archive Server platform to manage the data growth within the two
systems using the Microsoft Windows 2003 operating system and
Microsoft SQL Server database.
SAP Business Suite is currently used for back office
administration while Microsoft Dynamics manages the point of sale
and retail outlets.
Ian Woosey, group IT director at Carpetright, said, “These
solutions will help manage our data growth and storage costs. In
the future we will look to use the Livelink ECM – Archive Server
platform for additional solutions, for example Microsoft Exchange
archiving.”
In January, Carpetright said it was on course to save £1m a year
with the roll-out of SAP for Retail in its head office.
It removed 12 legacy applications during its implementation of
SAP for Retail, allowing it to cut costs through hardware and
software consolidation, as well as terminated software
licences.
