There has been a huge increase in demand for high-end
application development skills among UK
organisations.
The CPMi Job Creation Index, published by recruitment
consultancy Computer People and Mandis Business Intelligence,
tracks employers' recruitment plans across the UK technology and
telecoms markets.
Neil Hulse, business analyst at Computer People, and author of
the report, said JDBC, Visual C++, Blackberry, MIS and C++ were the
top five skills, with the greatest percentage rate increase between
the first and second quarter of 2006.
Vax/VMS, ATM, SAP PP, Broadband and client-server suffered the
biggest percentage decrease during this period. "The IT jobs market
is enjoying its longest period of stability in 20 years. For a year
and a half the number of jobs advertised per quarter has varied by
less than 10%," said Hulse.
According to the report, 7,246 new jobs were created in the
technology and telecoms sectors during the second quarter - a 48%
increase on the first quarter figures.
