Hewlett-Packard has opened three new service-oriented
architecture (SOA) testing centres for enterprise customers in
Cupertino, California; Singapore and Bangalore as part of a $500m
(£270m) investment in SOA technology.
SOAs are designed to allow firms to implement applications and
web services that can be flexibly developed in response to the
changing needs of their businesses.
The three HP SOA Competency Centers are comprehensive
“experience centres” to enable HP, its customers and its partners
to pilot and evaluate SOA technologies, solutions and
implementations.
The centres will also showcase HP’s capabilities in IT
architecture, management, security and governance.
The opening of the three SOA Competency Centers brings HP’s
total to five worldwide, with two additional centres already
located in Sophia Antipolis, France, and Tokyo.
Analyst Gartner estimates that by 2010, at least 65% of large
enterprise organisations will have more than 35% of their
application portfolios SOA-based, up from fewer than 5% of
organisations in 2005.
