The Met Office has warned that the extra warm summer the
UK has been experiencing is set to continue. At the same time
datacentres are consuming more power, due to the popularity of high
density blade server racks, which in turn, require more powerful
air conditioning units that also put an additional load on the
National Grid.
EDF’s power outage in London’s Soho on 27 and 28 July affected
many businesses, among them a major data centre in New Oxford
Street. Power and heat are now the two biggest issues affecting
data centre design.
