British American Tobacco has deployed management
technology to protect XML communications across its datacentre
network in 180 countries.
The company has deployed Vordel's VS3000 gateway appliances,
which incorporate traditional security functions with web services
management.
The appliances have been installed to protect corporate
information held on British American Tobacco's SAP back-office
system, securing XML-based communications when staff input or
extract data from the system.
The technology covers both staff identity control and ensuring
that data conforms with XML communication parameters. It has been
integrated with BAT's existing security and ID management
systems.
