Microsoft has released the third beta of its forthcoming
Internet Explorer 7 browser for Windows XP.
The final version of the browser, which is designed to improve
functionality and security, is expected later this year.
Beta 3 aims to offer reliability, compatibility and user
interface improvements. New features include the ability to add an
e-mail button to the customisable toolbar and allow users to move
tabs by dragging them to the left or right.
There are also enhancements to Real Simple Syndication (RSS)
support within IE 7, and tweaks to improve website compatibility.
This includes ironing out rendering bugs in previous versions of
the browser.
The latest beta also comes with the security fixes issued by
Microsoft earlier this month, which affected Internet Explorer.
IE 7 beta 3 runs on Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Windows Server
2003 SP1. Another beta version of IE 7 runs on test versions of
Microsoft’s forthcoming Windows Vista, which will be widely
available next year.
