Oracle has released PeopleSoft Enterprise 9 in a move
designed to reassure users of PeopleSoft products that the company
is committed to supporting them.
PeopleSoft was acquired by Oracle in January 2005. The company
has also snapped up Siebel and JD Edwards in its battle for the
business software market with bitter rival SAP, and has been at
pains to prove its commitment to support and invest in its acquired
technologies.
Alongside the new release, Oracle announced the appointment of
Doris Wong as general manager of a new PeopleSoft Enterprise
organisation within Oracle. Wong, who worked at PeopleSoft for 11
years before the Oracle takeover, will take charge of the strategic
direction and development of PeopleSoft products.
PeopleSoft Enterprise 9 is integrated with Oracle Fusion
Middleware, allowing users to combine it with other Oracle products
such as XML Publisher, Oracle Business Activity Monitoring and
Oracle Customer Data Hub.
The PeopleSoft Enterprise 9 release is set to offer modules that
facilitate compliance, customer relationship management,
performance management and asset lifecycle management, with
comprehensive lifecycle support across various asset types.
The first module, PeopleSoft Enterprise Learning Management, was
unveiled with the new release.
