Office equipment manufacturer Pitney Bowes is preparing
to give managers across the company access to SAP HR data using
software from workforce specialist Human Concepts.
The software will be used to improve the quality of information
in the SAP database, which provides all staff-related information
for its enterprise systems, including Active Directory, Payroll,
the Remedy Helpdesk and its recruitment software.
Kerr McPhee, European manager for organisational management at
Pitney Bowes, said SAP HR data can very easily become out of synch
with the business. “It is crucial that we make it accurate,” he
said.
HR users run the Orgplus tool from HumanConcepts to access an
organisational chart for their part of the business. They then work
with the business managers to make sure the information is
correct.
He said, “By the third quarter we are going to roll out Orgplus
to all the business managers. Each manager will be given a security
profile allowing them to see reports on their staff. Everyone who
[has a manager profile] on SAP will be able to make business
decisions based on staffing information,” he said.
Pitney Bowes will load 38,000 staff records a day from SAP HR
into the Orgplus system, which provides browser-based and
Windows-based access to HR information. Reports are produced using
Excel.
The application will be rolled out when the SAP HR data has been
cleaned.
