McDATA has added EMC's Rainfinity Global File
Virtualisation to its ROC (Remote Office Consolidation) in order to
help EMC customers consolidate, optimise and
protect the data in their storage networks.
The company is a well-established provider of SAN products,
services and other storage and networking solutions, helping
customers build, globally connect, optimise and centrally manage
data infrastructures across SAN, MAN and WAN environments. McDATA
claims it is the trusted partner in the world’s largest data
centres, connecting more than two-thirds of all networked data.
The ROC is a set of products and services that let companies
consolidate, centrally manage and protect all remote office data
types, without slowing the pace of real-time global business, the
authors say. Rainfinity, adds the company, complements centralised
file virtualisation and management to the ROC supports customers
with even greater data protection and management efficiencies.
McDATA recently demonstrated its ROC solution, showing remote
file access over a simulated SAN between Boston and Los Angeles.
Remote office employees on the Los Angeles side of the network had
read/write functionality across the WAN without, says the firm,
impacting application performance or latency.
