Entertainment UK has combined advanced planning software
(APS) with demand sensing mathematical templates developed by
Imperial College to improve visibility in its supply
chain.
The company, which is featured in AMR's supply chain report,
sells DVDs and CDs to high street stores. Its software allows it to
provide a twice-daily view on the uptake for each product.
The analysts at AMR noted that the company was using the APS
technology to dynamically restock or change in-store displays. It
could optimise timing of the removal of one title and its
replacement by another, against the constraint that displays must
be kept full.
The report noted that Entertainment UK experienced a 20% stock
reduction and 20% improvement in its measure of sales
efficiency.
