Tests boost software reliability for M&S

Tuesday 18 April 2006 04:04

Marks & Spencer has improved the reliability of its software by testing more than 450 application upgrades since it set up its IT centre of excellence 12 months ago.

Systems tested at the centre include electronic point of sale applications, a new server environment and an Ethernet-based network.

The UK's largest clothing retailer used two business technology optimisation applications at the testing centre: Mercury Quality Centre and Mercury Performance Centre.

Mac Miller, Marks & Spencer's corporate test manager, said, "We were able to develop a clear business case for the testing centre of excellence, which is now the single point of control for all new IT projects. We have reduced business cost and risk."

Last week Marks & Spencer reported that sales in the first quarter of 2006 were 9.1% up on the equivalent period in 2005.
