The BCS is to launch a specialist group to raise awareness and knowledge among BCS members about geospatial technology, issues and best practices.

The Geospatial Specialist Group will act as a centre of expertise for the BCS and its members, encourage and build on the increasing mainstream use of geospatial systems in IS architectures, and provide a forum for debate and examination of geospatial-related issues from a professional perspective.

The inaugural meeting of the Geospatial Specialist Group will be held at 6pm on 8 May at the BCS offices in Southampton Street, London. Ed Parsons, chief technical officer of Ordnance Survey, will be speaking.
