Apple Computer has fixed 20 vulnerabilities in its
latest security update for the Mac OS X operating
system.
The set of patches address a variety of security flaws,
including a number that could allow remote attackers to take
control of users’ Macs.
The Apple update includes patches for previously reported flaws
in the Safari web browser and the Apple Mail e-mail client.
The vulnerabilities include exposing Mac users to malicious
content via rogue websites and the downloading of malware via
e-mail, as a result of improper download validation.
The iChat Apple instant messaging application has also been
updated to protect users from the recently discovered Leap.A bug,
which spreads malware.
Other flaws fixed in the update include those related to the PHP
scripted programming language, Apple's Directory Services, and a
bug in the Filevault secure storage system.
