Microsoft has expanded its enterprise security
options.
It is buying web-filtering software from FutureSoft, and has
released a public beta of the next version of its firewall and
virtual private network product, Internet Security and Acceleration
(ISA) Server 2006.
The company has also released a limited customer beta for both
its Microsoft Client Protection and Microsoft Antigen for Exchange
security products.
The beta for ISA Sever 2006 can be downloaded from Microsoft's
website. The company has not revealed how many customers are taking
part in the Client Protection and Antigen for Exchange betas.
Microsoft has bought the DynaComm i:filter solution from
privately-held FutureSoft, which will remain an independent company
following the deal.
The solution allows IT administrators to filter content coming
through a company's network that is deemed inappropriate. The
software can also protect users against spyware, by blocking any
download of executable files through web browsers.
New features in the Microsoft's ISA Server 2006 beta include
increased security for web application servers and management tools
that simplify the process of deploying ISA Server 2006 in branch
offices.
