IBM has released a new range of “self-healing” data
centre software that can automatically detect and fix performance
problems.
The new software has been launched by Big Blue’s Tivoli
division, which specialises in monitoring and management
software.
IBM Tivoli Monitoring 6.1 is an update which enables firms to
activate new server capacity automatically when key applications,
such as e-mail or online payments, become overloaded.
The new IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager discovers and
repairs network bottlenecks, focusing on problems in web-enabled
applications.
In addition, Tivoli Systems Automation for Multi-platforms is
designed to easily restore systems from different suppliers after
an outage or other failure, without data loss.
The latest products are additions to IBM’s self-healing product
range, originally launched four years ago.
The three new packages are priced on a per processor basis.
Tivoli Monitoring 6.1 starts at $700 (£412) per processor,
Composite Application Manager starts at $5,000, and Systems
Automation for Multi-platforms costs $1,100.
