Intel has reported an 18% increase in sales for the
third quarter to $9.96bn (£5.85bn).
And the company’s pre-tax profits were up by a third, increasing
from $2.43bn to $3.24bn.
“In the third quarter we achieved all-time records in company
revenue and unit shipments across all of our major product lines,”
said Intel chief executive officer Paul Otellini.
Earlier this month, Intel and MicroUnity settled a patent
infringement case, which resulted in Intel agreeing to pay
MicroUnity $300m. The third-quarter accounts featured an initial
$160m charge arising from this.
Intel is also battling an anti-trust case brought by AMD which
is not expected to reach court until 2007.
