Tibco Software has introduced General Interface 3.0, a
programming framework and development tool for delivering
applications that run in a standard web browser. The framework
offers extensible rich GUI component libraries, client-side data
cache, drag-and-drop events, and background communications, Tibco
said.
Mobiledataforce ships mobile customiser
Mobiledataforce is shipping Pointsync 2.0 for Win ce.net, a
development tool for building and deploying advanced mobile
applications on industrial grade mobile devices. The software is
designed to help end-users create customised mobile applications
for field data collection, barcode reading and RFID.
Predictive analytics package gets revamp
SPSS, a provider of predictive analytics software, has revamped
its flagship statistical software package, SPSS 14.0, to extend the
reach and power of predictive analytics. The new version offers an
add-on module for validation of data along with improved
forecasting. The package also offers a new programmability
extension to enable third-party programming languages to control
the flow of syntax jobs.
Pointsec debuts Linux encryption product
Enterprise security software company Pointsec Mobile
Technologies has begun shipping its endpoint encryption product for
Linux-based operating systems. Pointsec for Linux enables users to
deploy centrally-managed full-disc encryption for Linux laptops and
desktops.
Retalix/Pay By Touch unite for finger
project
Retalix, a supplier of point-of-sale systems for grocery
retailers and Pay By Touch, a supplier of biometric authentication
payment systems, have joined forces to develop a biometric payment
system, providing shoppers with the ability to pay with a finger
scan linked to their bank accounts.
Microsoft application lifecycle product in
beta
Microsoft has released the third beta of its Team Foundation
Server (TFS) software to handle application lifecycle management.
TFS is designed to work with the Visual Studio 2005 Team System
product planned for release in early November. Team Foundation
Server is expected to ship Q1 2006.
Symantec purchase beefs up phishing fight
Symantec is acquiring anti-phishing software company
Wholesecurity to improve its anti-fraud family of security
products. Wholesecurity's behavioural-based threat detection
technology analyses the actions of viruses, worms and other
malicious code to predict threats.
VA/Thoughtworks unite on agile development
VA Software and IT consultancy Thoughtworks are working together
to bring agile development to enterprise users. The two companies
will offer a turn-key service that integrates VA Software's
Sourceforge and Thoughtworks' Cruisecontrol.
Iona and LogicBlaze in code share link-up
Integration software provider Iona Technologies is collaborating
with open source software company LogicBlaze to share code between
two open source service-oriented architecture projects. The firms
aim to provide compatibility between the Celtix open source
Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) sponsored by Iona and ServiceMix, the
open source ESB supported by LogicBlaze.
Oracle's 10g Lite will support Symbian
system
Oracle says its 10g Lite Release 2 database will support the
Symbian mobile phone operating system, allowing users to run
enterprise applications on smartphones. Oracle Database Lite 10g
Release 2 for Symbian OS is designed to give enterprise and
consumer applications data access with high performance and complex
data manipulations, said the company.
