AMD has started shipping a new 64-bit chip for
high-performance notebooks, including a new 64-bit notebook from
Fujitsu Siemens Computers.
The Mobile AMD Athlon 64 processor 4000+ is designed for
full-screen notebooks in the 15in to 17in range and can support
both 32-bit and 64-bit applications.
The processor also contains on-chip security features which AMD
calls “enhanced virus protection”, designed to prevent the spread
of viruses.
Fujitsu Siemens Computers plans to incorporate the Mobile AMD
Athlon 64 processor 4000+ into a new AMILO A1667G notebook, which
is expected to be available next month throughout Europe.
