Software supplier Sybase has announced a $71.3m (£40.3m)
deal to acquire mobile software firm Extended Systems and integrate
it into its iAnywhere Solutions subsidiary.
Extended Systems specialises in mobile enterprise software,
database software and mobile device solutions. It has a strong
presence in European and approximately 2,500 global business
customers.
John Chen, chairman, president and chief executive at Sybase,
said, “The acquisition of Extended Systems is expected to enhance
our portfolio of mobile middleware solutions and strengthen our
geographic presence, particularly in Europe.
“This acquisition will position Sybase with a powerful,
end-to-end information mobility offering that, when combined with
our industry leading mobile database and mobile device management
products, will enable Sybase to deliver on the benefits of the
Unwired Enterprise.”
