BEA has begun shipping Tuxedo 9.0, the latest version of
the company's software product for high transaction processing,
which now focuses strongly on service-oriented architecture
(SOA).
BEA Tuxedo is designed to run C, Cobol, C++ and Cobra C++
software applications across distributed, heterogeneous computing
environments. It is used by some of the world's largest
mission-critical transaction processing systems, such as wire
transfers, cashpoint machines and telecoms billing systems.
"From telecommunications to financial services, airlines to
retail, many of the world's most complex and demanding IT
operations rely on BEA Tuxedo for high-powered transaction
processing," said Wai Wong, executive vice-president, products at
BEA Systems. He said Tuxedo 9.0 allows enterprises to extend the
functions of legacy and mainframe systems through SOA.
Tuxedo 9.0's new features include tighter integration with BEA
WebLogic Server via the WebLogic Tuxedo Connector; integration with
BEA AquaLogic Service Bus (formerly Quicksilver); and better
support of Extensible Markup Language (XML).
It also has improved security features, such as plug-ins that
support Kerberos for single sign-on, and quality of service
performance enhancements.
